New year .....Older 'Model'

Happy new year bloggers. Time has flown since we were in bed and asleep well before midnight. How times have changed for both of us over these recent years. We were mumbling our words from pure exhaustion rather than being influenced by the % of Alcohol in the bottle we were holding.

We had a little hit out at the Sawtell (beach village just south of Coffs) 5k fun run to start 20-12 and it was great fun. On tired legs we both dug in and tried our very best. Was good to see the community spirit alive down there so early on and even some mistimed line dancers made a random appearance.... not in the race!!

Non stop action as it was Cat's birthday the very next day and we tootled off on a nice 3 hr ride in gorgeous weather to Bellingen and back to our new favourite spot of Sawtell and landed on a spare table at a popular cycle cafe of 'Split'.

It (the cafe) is pretty cool, all decked out in all things bikes/lycra and COFFEE!!! We had a nice brekky brunch to celebrate. No rest for the oldie as we hit the pool after that before arriving back to the Webeck's for dinner and dessert which included all her favourites. Mum did a great job to make up for my miss firings.(thanks mum)

Since then it has been head down and grinding it our in the'BIG RING' putting in some BIG blocks of training along, amongst and around the Coffs Coast. Sessions are progressing into more race specific stuff to suit our first race in the Snowy mountains in close to 4 weeks. We are progressing the heart rate along with the vertical terrain. Speaking of terrain, Coffs Hbr surely can cater for any requirements for both cycling and running. It is hard to find a flat road for a recovery ride and the surface feels like you are constantly riding on semi flat tires. We are going to be well prepared, lets just say that!

Being the 'Coach' for both it has been good fun putting together a formula to get us ready and things are going well and mixing up the hours of training which aren't letting up :)

I may be SLIGHTLY biased but it is an amazingly beautiful place to swim/cycle or run when the sun is shining and lately we have been blessed with many a day of sun shine.

Few photo's below is of our typical long run which takes us from our place along (updownupdown)the coast and around the Coffs Creek loop....

We have just done well in our second club race off the back of a big block of training so things looking good. Cat is not making many friends as she WON the girls again! Very happy for her as her running is making inroads FAST. I placed 3rd again and the pace at the front was HOT! Happy for both of us and it is great fun to have a hit out for a 1hr long race compared our usual 4-6hrs for a half ironman.

Until next time keep on tracking
